TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moisture and instability trailing Tropical Storm Earl, will continue to cause occasional cloudiness, scattered showers and possibly thunderstorms over parts of the Lesser Antilles, during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Earl was located near latitude 22.2 degrees north, longitude 65.2 degrees west or about 265 miles or 425 kilometres north of the northern Leeward Islands. Earl is moving toward the north near 6 mph or 9 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph or 100 km/h, with higher gusts. Some slow strengthening is possible later today and Earl could become a hurricane later this week.

A tropical wave associated with an area of low pressure, is located over the central Tropical Atlantic. This system is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.

Another tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. An area of low pressure could form along this wave and some gradual development is possible, as this system moves generally west-northwestward over the eastern to central tropical Atlantic during the next five days.
