FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands, it will be partly cloudy becoming cloudy at times with some scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, fair to partly cloudy skies with a few showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moist and unstable conditions over the northern portion of the region, will result in occasionally cloudy skies, with some scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over that area during the forecast period.

Tropical Depression Seven formed in the central Tropical Atlantic at 11:00 am today. At 5 pm today, the center of Tropical Depression Seven was located near latitude 16.8 North, longitude 50.5 West or 745 miles or 1200 km east of the Leeward Islands. The depression is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue during the next few days.  On the forecast track, the center of the system is forecast to move through the Leeward Islands late Friday, and be near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some gradual strengthening is forecast during the next day or so, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm tonight or Thursday.

A tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.
