FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Fair to partly cloudy with a few showers over the Leeward Islands. Further south, partly cloudy becoming cloudy at times with some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK 

A weak tropical wave will continue to affect mainly the southern half of the Lesser Antilles during the next 12 to 18 hours.

Another strong tropical wave located several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands has a medium chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next two days. This wave is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h and is expected to cause cloudiness, moderate to heavy showers, gusty winds and thunderstorms mainly over the southern portion of our region from tomorrow morning into Thursday.

At 11:00 am today, the centre of major Hurricane Fiona was located near latitude 22.0 North, longitude 71.4 West or 40 miles or 65 kilometres north-northwest of Grand Turk Island. A hurricane warning is in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands and a tropical storm warning is in effect for the southeastern Bahamas.
