FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Fair to partly cloudy with a few showers over the Leeward Islands. Further south, partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered showers, which will be heavy in some locations and isolated thunderstorms.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK 

Unstable conditions in the wake of a tropical wave will continue to affect the southern half of the Lesser Antilles tonight. Meanwhile, another strong tropical wave located a few hundred miles east of the Windward Islands has a medium chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next two days. This wave is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h and is expected to cause cloudiness, moderate to heavy showers, gusty winds and thunderstorms over the southern portion of our region from tomorrow into Thursday.

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of major Hurricane Fiona was located near latitude 22.6 North, longitude 71.8 West or 50 miles or 80 kilometres north of North Caicos Island. A hurricane warning is in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands and a tropical storm warning is in effect for Bermuda.

Tropical Depression eight was upgraded to Tropical Storm Gaston at 5:00 pm today and at that time was located near latitude 34.7 North 44.4 West or about 990 miles or 1595 kilo metres west of the Azors.
