…Tropical Storm Cindy not expected to affect the Lesser Antilles…

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Cindy was located near latitude 17.8 degrees north, longitude 54.7 degrees west. Cindy is moving quickly toward the northwest near 21 mph or 33 km/h and this motion is expected to continue, with a gradual decrease in forward speed. On the forecast track, the system is expected to pass well to the northeast of the norther Leeward Islands through early next week. Maximum sustained winds remain near 60 mph or 95 km/h with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast over the next several days, and Cindy could degenerate into a trough of low pressure by the mid next week.

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the tropical Atlantic during the next seven days.
