TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Light and variable winds will continue across the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours.
Moisture and instability trailing Hurricane Franklin, will continue to cause occasional cloudiness with a few scattered showers over the Leeward Islands during the forecast period.
The area of low pressure located just east of the Lesser Antilles, has weakened into a surface trough and will continue to cause occasional cloudy periods with a few showers over the central Lesser Antilles today into tomorrow.
Franklin strengthened into a hurricane this morning. At 11:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Franklin was located near latitude 23.5 North, Longitude 66.7 west or about 315 miles or 505 kilometres east-northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Franklin is moving toward the north-northwest near 7 mph or 11 km/h and does not pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.
A tropical wave located over the central tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.
Another tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 6 mph or 9 km/h.
