TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
A relatively drier and more stable atmosphere is expected over the Eastern Caribbean region.
At 5:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Storm Peter was located near latitude 19.6 north, longitude 63.8 west or about 105 miles or 170 kilometres north-northwest of the northern Leeward Islands. Peter is moving toward the west near 12 mph or 19 km/h. A west-northwest motion is expected to resume later today and continue for the next day or two. A turn to the north with a decrease in forward speed is expected later this week. Peter poses no direct threat to the Eastern Caribbean region.
At 5:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Storm Rose was located near latitude 21.0 north, longitude 36.4 west. Rose is moving toward the northwest near 20 mph or 31 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Rose is expected to remain over the open Atlantic during the next five days.
A strong tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next five days.
