FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Generally cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, over the far southern Windward Islands including Trinidad and Tobago. Elsewhere, Occasionally cloudy and hazy with a few showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

The Atlantic High Pressure system will generate moderate to brisk easterly winds across the Eastern Caribbean region.  Low level cloud patches drifting along this wind flow, will cause some scattered showers over the Leeward and central Windward Islands region during the forecast period.

A tropical wave will continue to produce frequent cloudy periods, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the far southern portion of the Eastern Caribbean region.

Two other tropical waves located over the central and far eastern Tropical Atlantic are both moving westward near 15 mph 24 km/h.

Saharan dust haze will cause a reduction in visibility and air quality around our region during the next few days.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the tropical Atlantic during the next 5 days.

The alert level at the La Soufriere volcano in Saint Vincent remains at Orange.  Interests in Saint Lucia and the south-eastern Caribbean region are advised to continue monitoring official sources for updates.
