FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Over the northern Windwards and Leeward Islands, skies will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a few showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moist and unstable conditions trailing Potential Tropical Cyclone Six, will continue to cause cloudiness, showers and possibly thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, Potential Tropical Cyclone Number Six (#6) was centered near latitude 16.9 North, longitude 65.5 West or about 105 miles or 170 kilometres southeast of Ponce Puerto Rico. The system is moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph or 28 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next day or so and the disturbance is expected to become a tropical storm tonight.

A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h.

A second tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is also moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. Some gradual development of this system is likely over the next several days.
