FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Over the southern Windward Islands and areas further south, generally cloudy skies with scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, fair to occasionally cloudy and hazy with a few light showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK  

Moisture and instability in the lower atmosphere over our region, will continue to cause cloudy conditions with showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms, mainly around the southern portion of the Eastern Caribbean region, during the next 24 hours.

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Hurricane Larry was located near latitude 15.0 degrees north, longitude 42.0 degrees west or about 1320 miles or 2125 kilometres east of the Leeward Islands. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 100 mph or 155 km/h, with higher gusts. Larry is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph or 26 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue over the weekend. Swells generated by Larry are expected to reach the Lesser Antilles on Sunday.
