At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Peter was located near latitude 18.4 north, longitude 57.8 west or about 350 miles or 560 kilometres east of the northern Leeward Islands. Peter is moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph or 28 km/h. On the forecast track, the center of Peter is expected to pass well north of the Leeward Islands on Monday and Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast tonight. Interests in the Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of this system.

…TROPICAL DEPRESSION SEVENTEEN BECOMES TROPICAL STORM ROSE, THE SEVENTEENTH NAMED STORM OF THE BUSY 2021 HURRICANE SEASON…

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Rose was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic near latitude 14.3 north, longitude 29.9 west. Rose is moving toward the north-northwest near 16 mph or 26 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph or 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Rose is expected to remain over the open Atlantic during the next five days.
