Cloudy to overcast with periods of rain, moderate to heavy showers, and isolated thunderstorms mainly over the Windward Islands. Elsewhere partly cloudy skies with a few scattered showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

…..Tropical Storm warning has been discontinued for Saint Lucia…..

At 8:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Storm Bret was located near Latitude 13.3 degrees north, Longitude 63.6 degrees west or about 210 miles or 338 kilometers west southwest of St Lucia. Bret is moving toward the west near 18 mph or 30 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue through the weekend. On the forecast track, the center of Bret will continue moving westward away from the Windward Islands and across the eastern and central Caribbean Sea during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h, with higher gusts. Weakening is anticipated over the next couple of days, and the system is expected to dissipate over the central Caribbean Sea by Saturday night or Sunday.

…. Tropical Storm Cindy Gradually Strengthening….

At 11:00 pm last night Tropical Depression Four developed into Tropical Storm Cindy. At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Cindy was located near latitude 12.1 degrees north, longitude 46.9 degrees west. Cindy is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph or 24 km/h and this general motion is expected over the next few days. On the forecast track, the system is expected to remain well east and northeast of the northern Leeward Islands through early next week.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days. Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of this system.

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.
