FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Over the southern Windward islands and areas further south, fair to occasionally cloudy skies with scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, fair to partly cloudy with a few brief showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

The Atlantic High-Pressure System will generate moderate east-southeasterly winds across the region during the forecast period.

Moisture and instability associated with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone will cause a few cloudy periods with scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the extreme southern portion of the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.

At 11:00 am today, Tropical Storm Katia was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic. Katia is expected to be a short-lived tropical storm remaining over the open ocean.  It does not pose a threat to our region.

A strong tropical wave located just off the west African coast is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next seven days.
