FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Over the southern Windward islands and areas further south, fair to occasionally cloudy skies with scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, fair to partly cloudy with a few brief showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moisture and instability in the wake of a tropical wave will cause a few cloudy periods with scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the southern portion of the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.

The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone will also be active over the southern portion of our region.

At 5:00 am today, Tropical Depression Twelve developed into Tropical Storm Katia and is located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic. Katia is expected to be a short-lived tropical storm and is expected to weaken into a remnant low by Sunday evening. Katia is expected to remain over the open ocean and does not pose a threat to our region.

A tropical wave which just emerged off the west African coast is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the then seven days.
