Moisture and instability associated with Hurricane Lee, will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands during the next 24 hours. Swells generated by this system will cause hazardous sea conditions around these islands during the forecast period.

At 5:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Lee was located near latitude 19.7 North, longitude 57.4 West or about 385 miles or 620 kilometres east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands. Lee is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through early next week with a significant decrease in forward speed. Maximum sustained winds are near 115 mph or 185 km/h, with higher gusts. On the forecast track, Lee is expected to pass well to the north of the northern Leeward Islands over the weekend and into early next week. Interests in the northern Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of Lee.

A tropical wave located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.
