TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Light and variable winds will continue across the Lesser Antilles over the next few days. Moisture and instability associated with Hurricane Lee will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands, during the next 24 hours.

…Core of powerful Hurricane Lee is expected to pass well to the north of the northern Leeward Islands this weekend…

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Hurricane Lee was located near latitude 18.9 North, longitude 55.5 West or about 500 miles or 805 kilometres east of the northern Leeward Islands. Lee is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through early next week with a significant decrease in forward speed. On the forecast track, Lee is expected
to pass well to the north of the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico over the weekend and into early next week.

Maximum sustained winds are near 150 mph or 240 km/h, with higher gusts. Swells generated by Lee are affecting portions of the Lesser Antilles. Interests in the northern Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of Lee.
