TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moisture and instability associated with Hurricane Lee, will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Leeward Islands during the next 24 hours. Swells generated by this system, will cause hazardous sea conditions around these islands during the next few days.

At 11:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Lee was located near latitude 21.6 North, longitude 61.0 West or about 270 miles or 435 kilometres north-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands. Lee is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h, and a slower motion is this direction is expected during the next few days.  Maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph or 175 km/h, with higher gusts. On the forecast track, Lee is expected to pass well north of the northern Leeward Islands during the next couple of days. Interests in the Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of this system.

Two tropical waves located over the eastern tropical Atlantic and near the west coast of Africa, are moving westward near 10 mph or 17 km/h. These systems have a low chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next 7 days.
