Cloudy to overcast with some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands. Elsewhere, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a few brief showers at first, becoming generally cloudy with scattered light to moderate showers and possible isolated thunderstorms from tonight.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moisture and instability associated with Tropical Storm Philippe will continue to cause cloudiness with scattered showers, and possible isolated thunderstorms, over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands during the next 24 hours.

A tropical wave located a few hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles is expected to affect the region from tonight into tomorrow.

Another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 23 mph or 37 km/h.

At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Philippe was located near latitude 20.5 degrees North, longitude 65.5 degrees West or about 150 miles or 240 kilometers north-northwest of St. Thomas. Philippe is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph or 15 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. On the forecast track, the center of Philippe is expected to move away from the Virgin Islands. Interests in the Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of this system.
