TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A light wind regime is expected across the Lesser Antilles, during the next few days. As a result, warm weather conditions are expected over the islands during that period.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Kirk was located near latitude 13.6 north, longitude 35.7 west. Kirk is moving toward the west near 12 mph or 19 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h, with higher gusts.

Kirk is likely to become a hurricane tomorrow and a major hurricane by Wednesday. Tropical Storm Kirk does not pose a threat to our region at this time.

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with a tropical wave over the eastern Tropical Atlantic continue to increase. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next several days, as it moves slowly westward over the eastern Tropical Atlantic.
