At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Seventeen was located near latitude 13.2 north, longitude 28.8 west. The depression is moving toward the north-northwest near 14 mph or 22 km/h and this motion is expected to continue today.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is expected over the next couple days and the depression could become a tropical storm tonight or Monday. This system is expected to remain over the Tropical Atlantic over the next few days and pose no threat to our region.
