TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK  

Moisture and instability associated with a weak tropical wave, will cause some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours.

Another tropical wave located over the central Atlantic is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. This wave is expected to affect our region from late Thursday into Friday.

…LARRY STRENGTHENS QUICKLY AND NOW EXPECTED TO BECOME A HURRICANE TONIGHT…

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Larry was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic near latitude 12.5 degrees north, longitude 29.4 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph or 110 km/h with higher gusts. Larry is moving toward the west near 22 mph or 35 km/h and is forecast to become a hurricane tonight, and a major hurricane by Friday. Larry is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region during the next five days.
