FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES
Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, which may be heavy in some locations and isolated thunderstorms over the northern Leeward and southern Windward Islands. Over the central Lesser Antilles, partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at times with some scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.


TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Moisture and instability in the atmosphere over the northern Leeward Islands, will generate some cloudiness, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the area tonight.
A low-level trough located just east of the Lesser Antilles, is drifting slowly westward and is expected to affect the Windward Islands and areas further south during the next 24 hours.


At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Earl was located near latitude 24.1 North, longitude 65.8 West. Earl is moving toward the north near 5 mph or 7 km/h. On the forecast track, Earl will continue to move slowly away from our region. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph or 110 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast and Earl could become a hurricane by tomorrow.


A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.


A broad area of low pressure associated with another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This system has a medium chance of tropical cyclone development within during the next five days.


A third tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa during the next day or two. Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next five days, while it moves generally westward across the eastern Tropical Atlantic.
