Sam is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 145 mph or 230 km/h, with higher gusts. Sam is a category 4 hurricane and some fluctuations in intensity are expected during the next day or so. Sam is not expected to directly impact the islands, however swells generated by this system are forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles early this week.

Interests in the Leeward and northern Windward Islands are advised to continue monitoring the progress of this system.

Two tropical waves located over the central and far eastern Tropical Atlantic are moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.

Sam is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 145 mph or 230 km/h, with higher gusts. Sam is now a category 4 hurricane and some fluctuations in intensity are expected during the next day or so. Sam is not expected to directly impact the islands, however swells generated by this system are forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles early this week.
